I vividly recall scrolling through LinkedIn, only to be met with hundreds, sometimes thousands, of competitors for the same positions. It felt like an uphill battle, exacerbated by the realization that I was up against a younger, more eager workforce.

As I embarked on the journey to redefine my professional identity and seek out new opportunities, I confronted the stark reality of age discrimination in the job market. Many companies seemed reluctant to consider older candidates, adding further complexity to my job search endeavors. It was undeniably a trying time, but amidst the setbacks, I began to explore fresh avenues and opportunities for career reinvention.

One industry that captured my interest was logistics, particularly the realm of box trucks and owner-operator ventures. Intrigued by the potential within this field, I delved deep into understanding its intricacies and dynamics. Yet, I soon realized that market conditions had shifted since the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, with freight rates plummeting from highs of $6-7 per mile to a more modest range of $0.75 to $3.00 per mile.
